Apricot Irving

Apricot Irving is the author of The Gospel of Trees, a lyrical meditation on ecology, loss, and the tangled history of missions in Haiti. Her work as an audio producer and writer has appeared on This American Life and Granta. She is the recipient of a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award and a Literary Arts Creative Nonfiction Fellowship, and is the founder and director of the Boise Voices Oral History Project, a collaboration between youth and elders to record the stories of a changing neighborhood. Love and Fire

What is it that we are to do with grief? We can turn it inward, making prisoners of our own bodies. We can turn it against others. I want to believe that we can also be transformed by loss.
