Michael Eric Dyson is a Georgetown University sociology professor, ordained Baptist minister, New York Times contributing writer, and MSNBC political analyst. Dr. Dyson is the author of seventeen books, including Tears We Cannot Stop: A Sermon to White AmericaMaking Malcolm: The Myth and Meaning of Malcolm X, Holler If You Hear Me: Searching for Tupac Shakur, the New York Times bestseller Is Bill Cosby Right? Or Has the Black Middle Class Lost Its Mind?, and Can You Hear Me Now? The Inspiration, Wisdom, and Insight of Michael Eric Dyson.

He has won many prestigious awards, including an American Book Award and the NAACP Image Award, and he regularly appears as a journalist on television and radio shows including Today, NPR’s Talk of the Nation, Charlie Rose , HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, Meet the Press, Face the Nation, Real Time with Bill Maher, and The Colbert Report. He holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University and has also taught at Brown University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
