Pádraig Ó Tuama: My name is Pádraig Ó Tuama, and over the summer I was having a pressured week. And an idea came to me that, rather than let the pressure get to me, I should go and read and memorize a poem. So I did. On a complicated Thursday, I took lunch and memorized a poem over forty minutes. And it changed me, and I still return to that poem. Poems are a vehicle that can carry us, carry our feelings, carry our experiences, and might help focus us a little.

So, we are delighted that Poetry Unbound Season 9 starts back on Monday, December 2nd. And we have lots of poems about strong feelings in this season, 14 episodes. Feelings of regret, or confusion, or connection, or fights, or rage, or love, all these vehicles for containing what it is we experience, and helping us put some shape to the languages that are in us.

So, tune in wherever you get your podcasts, and we’ll be back on December 2nd with Season 9 of Poetry Unbound. See you next week.
