An FAQ for the On Being Audience

Is On Being going away?

No, but we are transitioning the show from a weekly public radio program and podcast to a seasonal podcast. The last weekly episode of On Being will be distributed on June 23, 2022. Then in October (exact date to come), we will offer On Being again in our podcast feed for a seasonal run. After June, On Being will no longer be offered on U.S. public radio stations.

I listen to On Being on public radio. How do I keep listening?

After June, you can listen to On Being in our Wisdom app, by podcast, (Apple, Amazon, or Spotify) and through our website. What will continue for you is the enriching experience of listening to a conversation like no other through the intimately beautiful medium of audio.

What does “seasonal” mean for the podcast?

A podcast season means we will offer a designated number of episodes over a specific period of time. Right now we anticipate the first podcast season of On Being to include around 10-12 episodes.

Weekly listening to On Being has been a ritual for me. Now what do I do?

We recognize the significance of this change for people who have created a weekly listening ritual with On Being. If you want to keep that On Being ritual going, a first suggestion is to “follow” us on Apple (pressing the “plus” icon) or Spotify (pressing the “bell” icon) to be notified of new episodes. You may also visit our extensive libraries on our website and listen to previous episodes. We are amazed by the number of episodes in our archive that are accessed across time — a testament to their ongoing relevance. We are also developing new ways to bring our archive to life, on social media and beyond. We also invite you to check out our new soft-launched Wisdom app. The app offers courses that curate On Being’s content around themes (Finding Replenishment, Hope Is a Muscle), with Krista in the role of teacher and guide. Finally, please sign up for our email newsletter, The Pause, to keep informed of new offerings and ways to have On Being in your life, and to be alerted to our fall podcast season.

What is the new Lab for the Art of Living that Krista mentioned in her letter?

The lab is a place where we will be experimenting with different modes, and developing new tools, to help anchor new practices and wisdom in the context of your own life and communities: from bringing our content to life in new formats (including the continued development of our Wisdom app), to publishing and poetry extensions, Better Conversations and Grounding Virtues kits, and other future offerings emerging from the world and our work

I am excited about the idea of On Being convenings, can you say more?

We hosted our memorable first On Being Gathering in 2018, followed by what’s become an annual Midwinter Gathering, digitally offered in 2020 and 2021. We are excited to bring convenings back to our slate of activities through digital and physical engagements that connect and deepen our presence to each other and the world. We will have more to share around the fall.

How can I support The On Being Project?

People regularly reach out to tell us that they have just “discovered” On Being, and not by buzz, but by passage from one human being to another — sometimes as a lifeline, often across generations. Sharing our offerings is one important way you can support our work. This might be your favorite episode, our weekly newsletter The Pause, or bringing someone in your life to one of our upcoming events. You can also support our ongoing work through a membership to our app, or make a donation here.

How do I stay informed about what’s ahead at The On Being Project?

Sign up for our email newsletter, The Pause, and follow us on social media on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. If you have additional questions, please email us at [email protected]. We receive a high volume of email, so please know that a timely response is not always possible, and we may not be able to answer every question.
