How Mindfulness Meditation Can Save America

We think of it as a spiritual practice, but in truth, mindfulness meditation is an exercise in cognitive self-examination. On the Buddhist practice as a powerful tool for all — for understanding ourselves and our enemies with more depth and compassion.
Whether to persevere or to surrender often determines the story of our lives. The question is knowing when to hang on and when to let go. A look at the common conundrum that results when life causes tension between two virtues.
The stories of a person, a family, a culture, a country hold and bind us in ways that are potentially fruitful or harmful. They also give us an identity. A meditation on who we are, how we become, and the stories we tell ourselves along the way.
