Strangers sometimes say no. I’ve been collecting rejection letters for years. Some of them are memorable.

OH DEAR, NO.
What you sent
me can’t possibly
be POEMS.
Something else,
maybe but I
as EDITOR of
a JOURNAL
for many many
(there is actually a third
many) years
don’t know
the word from
what you sent.
And although I
tell everyone
to try us again
I’m not sure
about YOU.
